New Release and More!

praying for the cureI’m so excited to announce the release of my latest book, Praying for the Cure: A Powerful Prayer Guide for Comfort and Healing from Cancer. The book is a product of my own journey through cancer treatment seventeen years ago, as well as fifteen years of praying and ministering to others facing the same battle. It is the perfect companion for anyone who has heard the life changing words, “You Have Cancer.”

Shortly after I completed cancer treatment in 2000, I attended a Praying for the CureSusan B. Komen Race for the Cure event in Minneapolis. As I looked over a sea of pink—47,000 men, women, and children, all touched by breast cancer—a silent voice spoke from deep within me: I don’t want you to race for them. I want you to pray for them. My first reaction was, “God, is that really you?” After I realized I really did hear the voice of God speak gently to my spirit, my second reaction was, “You want me to do what!?” I knew nothing about praying for people, but somehow I knew this was part of my destiny. God would use what the enemy intended for evil in my life, for something good to bless others.

hosannalogoSo in 2001, with help from our Care Pastor, Pat Moe, I founded the Pray for the Cure ministry at my home church, Hosanna!, in Lakeville, Minnesota. Today, I work with an awesome team of trained prayer ministers and together, we have prayed for and discipled thousands of people in their journey through all types of cancer. Be sure to check out my website for more information on Pray for the Cure. If you live in the twin cities area, you are welcome to join us on the third Monday of every month for individualized healing prayer, Biblical teaching, and fellowship with others at various phases of the cancer journey.

Prayer opens worlds of possibilities—but many people still struggle to pray, especially in a time of a life threatening health crisis like cancer. Praying for the Cure will help you pray, by offering solid biblical reasons to talk to God and specific prayer starters to guide you in prayer for healing from cancer. A brand-new entry in Barbour’s Shiloh Run Press lineup, this comforting and encouraging book includes topics such as: His Love, His Goodness, His Will, His Grace, His Mercy, His Voice, His Timing, His Provision, His Presence, and His Glory. It is my prayer that Praying for the Cure will help draw you ever closer to the Ultimate Healer, Jesus Christ.

On the same day Barbour Publishing released Praying for the Cure , I submitted the completed manuscript for my next book in the Names of God Series— Jehovah-Jireh: The God Who Provides.  Here is a sneak peek at the cover. This book will encourage those seeking God’s provision in times of lack, especially when struggling with unemployment, financial crisis, and meeting other practical needs. The book will be released March, 2017. Happy reading and may the grace of our Lord Jesus, the love of God, and the presence of the Holy Spirit be with you always.

What’s In a Name?

Jehovah-RaphaPeople have asked about the meaning behind the name of my latest book, Jehovah-Rapha: The God Who Heals. In Bible times, names were not only used for identification but to reveal someone’s purpose, nature, and authority.  Jehovah is the Hebrew name for “I AM,” the unchanging, eternal God as revealed to Moses in Exodus 3:14. By adding a second part to His name, as He often did throughout Scripture, God revealed additional facts about His character and His care and concern for His children. In Exodus 15:26, He called Himself Jehovah-Rapha in Hebrew meaning, “I am the God who heals you.”healing is who God is

In naming the book, Jehovah-Rapha: The God Who Heals, I wanted to capture the heart of a loving God who’s nature is to heal and restore as revealed through the Biblical and modern day stories in the book. In essence, He is saying, healing isn’t just something I do. Healing is who I am!

Future books in this series will have similar titles:  Jehovah-Jireh: The God Who Provides (Genesis 22:14); Jehovah-Shalom: The God of Peace (Judges 6:24); and Jehovah-Nissi: The God Who Conquers (Exodus 17:15). Jehovah-Jireh: The God Who Provides will be released in March 2017.

Throughout scripture, God reveals His identity and purpose to us through different names. Each name describes His nature and character and His heart for His creation. Recently, I signed a contract with Barbour Publishing for the next book in the series, Jehovah-Jireh: The God Who Provides. This book will encourage those seeking God’s provision in times of lack, especially when struggling with unemployment, financial crisis, and meeting other practical needs. The book will be released March, 2017.

Future plans include Jehovah-Shalom: The God of Peace, a book for those seeking peace and rest in times of great stress, turmoil, grief, or personal loss and Jehovah-Nissi: The God Who Conquers, a book that will minister to those who are fearful and downtrodden and need to know that God is fighting for them and is their only means of victory. All books in the Names of God series include compelling Bible stories and teaching on the relevant Scriptures, prayers, and engaging testimonies of God’s power today.
